My name is Melissa Lazar. I am first a mom, a professional photographer and an entrepreneur.
I have always tried to help people, mostly other women. I have participated in various charity events, created charity calendars, helped out in my community by donating my time etc. For me, giving back is sort of the point... That said, I have, at times, worn myself out in my pursuit to helping others; to the detriment of my children, my friends and family and certainly to myself.
When I started out years ago, determined to "make a difference" it was via my camera that I found the most reward. Initially, my goals were to take photographs of children and families. Dabbled in senior photographs and enjoyed myself a lot. I have taken 100,000's of photographs of children and loved every moment of it.
I discovered within the past few years that one of the best ways I can give back to women is with my photography. A series of odd of circumstances set in motion my desire to take photographs of women, boudoir photographs mostly!
To this point, my boudoir and pin up girl photography has provided me with the most rewarding way to actually give back and make a difference in many womens lives.
I have worked with women just diagnosed with breast cancer, women who are survivors of breast cancer and in the reconstruction stage of their recovery, women who that simply need a "pick me up", a woman who just found out her husband is having an affair and needed to know she "still had it", a women who just lost 100 pounds and wanted proof they look amazing?
The photographs represent women in all their stages of life. My art, has helped many women with confidence issues feel better about themselves. My art, has made me feel better about myself?
