How do lingerie and boudoir photography work together?

Several months ago, I realized I had a vacuum of sorts within my studio. Despite my efforts of providing many tips on what it takes to have a successful boudoir photo shoot, I was finding women coming to the studio very unprepared. It was taxing for me to attempt to fill a one to two hour photo shoot with one or two outfits. I felt like I was short changing the women to whom I had promised a full boudoir and/or pin up girl shoot.

I started to carry sexy lingerie to bridge the gap of what women were bringing to their shoots. This strategy did prove to be a successful one for the women, less so for me. I was now overly concerned with how to keep the lingerie clean and continue to offer the varying size and styles I was offering to the general population. The continued maintenance of the lingerie was time consuming and the continued use of the items and the regular cleaning of the delicate boudoir items was not working.

More recently, I have started to sell the lingerie both in the studio and at home parties. This is proving to be the best of all worlds. Women come to the intimate, private parties with a group of girlfriends, shop for high-end, well priced lingerie. They are able to try on most of the items while having a glass of wine with friends. The parties are a promising way provide women with pretty lingerie and an introduction to the tasteful world of boudoir photography. I am using the lingerie parties as a platform in which to market my photography. The women who come to the parties are offered a free boudoir shoot for each item of lingerie purchased; no limit. They can share their "gift certificates" with other friends and share the boudoir experience.

In all, the lingerie parties and the photo shoots are a perfect compliment to each other.

In addition to the basic marketing idea of a lingerie party to boost photography sales, I have launched an on-line shopping cart for those not able to attend the parties so the hostess can fully benefit from her friends being exposed to the lingerie.

Lastly, several women have come to me with the idea of wanting to "sell" the lingerie too. They are looking at this as a way to boost their personal income and meet new friends too. I have structured the home party marketing plan to be very beneficial to the consultant allowing me enough to continue to purchase lingerie to keep the whole cycle moving forward. I don't plan to make a living off the parties, I plan to earn a living off the boudoir and vintage pin up girl photo shoots the parties generate.
